Some swords done for a customer, called a fillipino ginunting (I have to believe him, I wouldn't know). It is a custom design to the customer specifications which include the horse hoof style handle, an oval guard, and the sllightly sickle shaped 20" blade. I was commisioned to make four of these now and perhaps more later. While the swords seemed easy in theory, in practice they were more difficult than I thought they'd be. The recurve of the blade created some problems I hadn't run into before and heat treating such a long, thin blade (3/16" at the handle with distal taper out to the tip) was interesting. There was lots of blade straightening after heat treat.
These were built with utility in mind, not fashion. I did not spend a lot of time with polishing and refinement because these would be for daily practice and to keep the costs down. They still hold command for esthetic though and I'd love to see one in full finish and bells and whistles. Maybe someday.
