The Press     page3
The basically finished press. I finally was able to buy the last few pieces of steel I needed and some odds and ends to finish up to a functional tool. There's still some tweaking to do and some painting, but I should be able to squish steel soon. Everything came out just right as far as alignment and tolerances. The ram travels smoothly up and down and the running press is about as loud as a table saw.
The die holders and my first set of dies, aggressive drawing. I made a framework out of angle iron so that the dies slide in from left to right. The dies themselves are a 1"x2"x6" base plate and the working surface is 1"x2"x4", welded to the base plate. The angle of the dies is 40 degrees, allowing me to work across the dies in both directions. More dies to come including flatting, a more shallow drawing, and a cut-off.
